We left Newark, NJ on a warm sunny Saturday afternoon & arrived in Beijing on a warm sunny Sunday afternoon...14 hours later & a 12 hour time change. The flight was LONG, but uneventful. We flew over NY, ME, Greenland, Norway, the North Pole, over Russia and down into China. We both took a few little cat naps, but didn't really sleep. I watched 4-1/2 movies and have almost finished a book. The Hangover II was great; I know I'm a little behind on my movies. Dan watched a few movies, also. We managed to have an empty seat between us, so were able to stretch out a little.
We landed in China, passed thru their customs, collected all of our bags (nothing lost) and found our way to the beautiful Beijing Capital Airport by 4:00 pm Beijing time. Dan almost got run over by the hotel shuttle bus; good thing somebody else was watching.
We went straight to bed...on a hard bed...and we were asleep in no time. Do you know what happens when you go to sleep at 4 pm? You wake up at 4 am. Actually, Dan woke up at 9 & went to the lobby to check email & scores from the football game. He won $25 on his work pool. Way to go Ohio State! We were up early and had to wait for the breakfast buffet to open at 5:30. Breakfast was good...except the chicken sausage. We were able to Skype with Kimmy at home and check our emails again. Everything seems to be ok at home. The cat is recovering well from his last minute ear surgery. This hotel had a hair dryer (not that Dan needs it) and a converter.
Our Liason, Cai, will be here in a little over an hour to take us to the airport for our next flight to Shanxi province where the real fun begins! I will post more later tonight...or tomorrow morning.
